Common issues surrounding connectivity to Legacy ELITEpro meters is COM port selection. If the correct COM port is not selected, the software will be unable to contact the meter and will give the “Could not wake logger” response.
To resolve this, select Tools > PC Setup. A separate window will open where there is a Port drop down menu that you can use to select your COM port. Look for a port that references your RS-232 connection (either direct serial port or a USB-to-Serial adapter), select this port, and click “Save Changes.” Attempt to connect again.
If this does not work, ensure your cable is connected and that you have a null modem adapter between the serial connection and the meter (if you are not already using a null modem cable).
If the logger still does not connect, it may have a dead battery, damaged RS-232 pins, or simple internal damage to the meter itself that is preventing communication. More in-depth troubleshooting would be necessary to check for these possibilities, but the first and simplest test is the COM port setting.
